Just five days after giving birth to her second daughter, Bolanle Oladele-Yahya tragically passed away, leaving behind her devoted husband Yahaya, her beloved two-year-old daughter Khadijah and her newborn daughter.

“She and my mom became really close friends. She was so warm and kind to everyone she met,” Tyler explained. “She and her husband loved helping out in the community and they were such a wonderful family – they would do anything for you.”

Bolanle, who was pregnant with her second child and had since moved into a house in Eckington, went into hospital for a planned caesarean section on Wednesday April 3. She and her husband welcomed another beautiful daughter into the world and were moved to the mother and baby ward, where Bolanle spent several hours singing to her newborn.

A few hours after giving birth, she complained of headaches. The pain became increasingly worse and her husband Yahaya was forced to call the emergency services.

Nurses rushed to the room. Initially, Bolanle was suspected of having suffered a stroke and was put into a coma. And after four days in a coma, doctors suggested turning off Bolanle’s life support machine.

Tyler, 30, said: “Yahaya is a very religious man, he is a Muslim and so he wanted to put it in God’s hands.” A day after the doctor suggested turning off her life support, Bolanle died on Monday, April 8. Although her cause of death has not yet been confirmed, doctors believe she may have had a brain aneurysm.

“I can’t even describe how I felt when I found out,” Tyler said. “I was devastated – not just because she died, but because something so tragic has happened to such a wonderful family, it’s just horrifying.”

“Khadijah, who is two years old, knows that her mother went to the hospital to give birth to her little sister and now her mother doesn’t go out. It’s absolutely horrific.

“One of the most important things to her was being a mother – she loved being a mom and she loved her husband more than anything. They adored each other.”

Tyler has Set up a GoFundMe page to support her family during this difficult time. The Chesterfield-based e-commerce manager said: “Worrying about living expenses is a burden we do not want to place on him (Yahaya) while he is grieving the loss of his wife.”

Tyler explained that she had originally set a fundraising target of £3,000 to cover the costs of Bolanle’s funeral, which took place at Madina Mosque on Friday (April 12). in Sheffield – and unbeknownst to her family until the day of the funeral, the community of Madina had come together to cover the entire cost of her funeral.

“Her husband woke up yesterday morning and didn’t know how he was going to pay for the funeral, so it was really unbelievable to find out that everything was paid for by the church,” Tyler explained.

The money will now be used to support the living expenses of Yahaya and her two children, as well as the cost of a visa for Bolanle’s sister, who hopes to move to the UK to help Yahaya look after his two daughters.

So far, a total of £1,940 of the £3,000 target has been raised. “I am extremely grateful to everyone who has donated – I can’t thank them enough. It will really make a huge difference to her husband at this difficult time.”
