“I’ve definitely talked about being in the new ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer.’ That would be great. I didn’t die, so I might as well come back.”

Norwood’s possible participation moved quickly: earlier this month, she shared that she didn’t even know a sequel was in the works. When it comes to sequels to legacy films, the return of past characters is almost essential to the overall nostalgic feel, so this news is good news for the return of the ’90s slasher.

Norwood’s character, as well as Freddie Prinze Jr.’s Ray Bronson and Hewitt’s Julie James, all survived Ben Willis’ wrath at the end of I still remember what you did last summer (the trio did not return in 2006 I will always know what you did last summer). Seeing the three of them back in Southport would no doubt provide a nice dose of nostalgia for fans of the original film (and 1990s slashers in general).

Prinze Jr. and Hewitt have also spoken publicly about participating in the reimagining, and both are eager to join the cast. Prinze Jr. recently shared that while no contract for his return has been secured, he knows that he “They want everything to work,” a feeling that he reciprocates. Last year, Hewitt said she would “one hundred percent” returns to the franchise when she “I loved making these films.” She recently announced that she was also in talks about returning to the franchise.
