BBC to broadcast all matches of the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup live

Promising to be one of the biggest events of next summer, the BBC has been confirmed to broadcast live every match of the Women’s Rugby World Cup, which will take place in England from August 22 to September 27, 2025.

Coverage of the tournament will be available on the UK public broadcaster’s linear channels, with all matches being broadcast on the iPlayer OTT platform and on the BBC Sport website and app.

There is no confirmation yet regarding broadcast arrangements for Ireland, but it is understood that coverage will be free-to-air and likely to be shared between RTÉ and Virgin Media on the same basis as is the case for the Guinness Six Nations and was the case for the Men’s Rugby World Cup in 2023.

Ireland qualified for the tournament last April by defeating Scotland in the Six Nations tournament at Kingspan Stadium.

New Zealand are aiming for a third consecutive victory after winning on home soil in Auckland in 2022 and in Belfast in 2017.

“The BBC is a great champion of women’s rugby and women’s sport more broadly, with its cross-platform, diverse programming approach and regional reach,” said Alan Gilpin, CEO of World Rugby.

“We look forward to making history together – the biggest, most accessible and record-breaking celebration of women’s rugby ever.”

Next year’s Women’s Rugby World Cup will be played at eight venues across the country: the American Express Stadium in Brighton, Ashton Gate in Bristol, Sandy Park in Exeter, Twickenham, Salford Community Stadium, Franklin’s Gardens in Northampton, the Stadium of Light in Sunderland and the York Community Stadium.

Twickenham will host the final under its new name Allianz Stadium.
