Northern Idaho customers have until September 11 to comment on Avista’s cost adjustment request • Idaho Capital Sun

The Idaho Public Utilities Commission is accepting comments on Avista Utilities’ request for an electricity rate adjustment for the electric services it provides.

According to the Commission, cost adjustment is used to track changes in revenues and costs associated with fluctuations in hydroelectric generation, secondary prices, thermal fuel costs and changes in revenues and expenses from electricity contracts.

Avista is proposing a rate adjustment of 0.205 cents per kilowatt hour. If the commission approves the proposal, customers would be reimbursed around $6.6 million starting October 1.

The discount is due to the fact that electricity costs are lower than those included in retail prices due to lower wholesale prices for electricity and natural gas.

The Commission will accept comments on Avista’s application until 11 September.
