Evil Season 4 Ending Explained: What About the 60, the Vatican, and Kristen’s Baby?

David learns that the Vatican’s friends are planning to take on the 60 demon houses, and that at least one of his former colleagues is in danger. Sister Andrea (Andrea Martin) may have known this before the episode was scripted, but here’s why things turn out the way they do.

What was the plan of the 60s

When Father Giovanni De Vita (Denis O’Hare), a high-ranking agent of the Entum, which is something like the CIA of the Catholic Church, first tells David about the impending visitation, he says, “The 60 have never gathered in one place before, and that will never happen again in our lifetime.” The Entum’s initial intel is that their “meeting involves a black mass and the sacrifice of a young woman, so we must prevent it.” Of course, the first part of the 60’s plan is a ruse to lure the Entum into an attack position and eliminate it. Father Acosta is able to save Father Giovanni, but the top leadership of the Holy Roman Empire’s preeminent military forces is decimated in the mock ritual held in the desecrated church.

The 60 were introduced in Season 1’s “Vatican III.” The examiners stumbled upon a mysterious codex that had been hidden by the Church for centuries. The ancient manuscript depicts an arrangement of 60 symbols called sigils. Each sigil represents a different demonic house. The entity believed the 60 were gathering for a ritual, but there is no reason for them to physically gather in one place. The meeting is to be held on a Zoom-like platform. The new technology also allows the 60 to utilize new insights from spiritual science, as Ben explains. There are 60 families and 60 brain regions connected to the thalamus, which relays all sensory and motor signals to the cerebral cortex. The 60 demonic families can download doom from the cloud and keep everything within their ever-growing family. All of this is possible thanks to the miraculous tech wizards at DF.

What is the DF/RMS fertility relationship?

At the beginning of Fear of the End, Kristen’s children decide to explore the future using VR headsets. It’s grim and getting grimmer by the second. Each of the children and all of the examiners experience different nightmare scenarios in virtual reality, and all of them end with an alarm that clocks down to zero. Of course, at the end of the countdown, they’re faced with an ad that allows them to download the full experience for just $7.99 a month from DF. The mysterious company with the ridiculous glass ceiling is the bane of Kristen, her family, and her teammates. Leland was once CEO, but was dethroned by a lowly employee, Kristen’s mother Sheryl (Christine Lahti). The company has a diversified portfolio.

Leland’s ultimate ascension plans began at RMS Fertility, where Kristen underwent artificial insemination and the center displaced her unfertilized egg. RMS Fertility is crucial to the succession of the 60 demon families and is also instrumental in the expansion of the Houses.

DF is introduced in Season 3 in “The Demon of Money.” The assessors are called in when the shareholders of a company called DF are being stalked by what looks like a demon. Both Ben and his sister buy stock and are confronted by the phenomenon. Insider trading is not a sin, so Ben sells all the stock to Kristen that she dumps on someone who has been bugging her. DF has been a significant presence in all of The 60’s maneuvers. Most of the executives are made up of satanic entities bent on causing unrest on Earth. DF fired Leland after Kristen suggested having Kristen’s baby baptized. Leland responds with his own poison pill, taking complete control of the company and his powers. Until he gets surrounded.
