NEW YORK (Thursday, August 22, 2024) – Major League Soccer today announced the schedule and format of the 2024 MLS Cup Playoffs and the 2024 MLS Cup.

Decision Day 2024 (Saturday, October 19)

The impact on the 2024 MLS Cup Playoffs is at stake, with 28 clubs in action on the final day of the MLS regular season.

2024 MLS Cup Playoffs Wildcard Matches (Wednesday, October 23)

The 2024 MLS Cup Playoffs Wild Card games will feature a single-game elimination match between the No. 8 and No. 9 seeds in each conference, hosted by the higher seeds, with the winners advancing to a best-of-3 first-round series to face the No. 1 seeds in their respective conference.

2024 MLS Cup Playoffs Round 1 Best-of-3 Series (Saturday, October 26 – Sunday, November 10)

The top seven teams in each conference automatically qualify for the best-of-three first-round series, followed by the respective winners of the wild card games. All 16 teams participating in the first round will have at least one home playoff game in the series. In each series, the higher seeded team hosts the first game, the lower seeded team hosts the second game, before returning to the higher seed’s venue for the deciding final game, if necessary.

2024 MLS Cup Playoffs Conference Semifinals (Saturday, November 23 – Sunday, November 24) and 2024 MLS Cup Playoffs Conference Finals (Saturday, November 30 – Sunday, December 1st)

After the excitement of the best-of-three series and with an eye on the international FIFA window in November, the Conference Semifinals and Conference Finals will be played on consecutive weekends in a knockout format. The MLS regular season is crucial, as the games in these rounds will be hosted by the team with the better regular season record.

MLS Cup 2024 (Saturday, December 7)

The postseason culminates with the 2024 MLS Cup, with hosting rights awarded to the finalist with the better record in the regular season.

The MLS Season Pass on Apple TV will broadcast every game of the 2024 MLS Cup Playoffs and the 2024 MLS Cup in over 100 countries worldwide. All games will be commentated in either English or Spanish, while games involving Canadian teams will also be commentated in French. Fans in the U.S. and Canada will also have the option to select their home team’s radio for audio coverage in the Apple TV app, where available.

Select playoff games, including the MLS Cup, will also be available on FOX Sports in the U.S. and TSN and RDS in Canada.
