Fresh from her Mad Max press tour, Anya Taylor-Joy has landed another role, this time in the Netflix adaptation of Bella Mackie’s novel How to kill your family.
Taylor-Joy will play Grace Bernard, the protagonist of Mackie’s book. As the name of the project suggests (and Deadline confirmed), the plot revolves around Grace, a 28-year-old woman who seeks revenge on her absent father by murder. According to DeadlineNetflix plans to bring the bloody story to life in an eight-episode satirical series.

Per DeadlineTThe official synopsis of the series reads: Grace is the forgotten child of Simon Artemis, a ruthless billionaire. After a heartbreaking rejection, Grace decides to seek revenge. But will this deadly plan take even more from Grace than she has already lost?
Mackie’s novel is written in the style of a confession. In the book, Grace’s father has refused the dying wish of her cancer-stricken mother, an event that leads Grace to kill six members of her family. However, the series is produced by Sid Gentle – the creator of KillingEve– another series about an antiheroine with a violent streak.
“When I turned the last page, I knew I had to be a part of bringing this story to life,” Taylor-Joy told Netflix. “After following the inimitable Bella Mackie for a while, I couldn’t be happier to be working with the team of executive producers Sally Woodward Gentle, Lizzie Rusbridger and Emma. I’m excited to get our hands dirty even more.”
Mackie added: “It’s been exciting to see the characters I’ve written come to life under this amazing creative team. Anya is the perfect choice for the role of Grace: I often think she understands her better than I do.”
