BENGALURU: Karnataka Minister HK Patil said the Cabinet has decided to build a skydeck at an estimated cost of Rs 500 crore.

HK Patil said, “The Karnataka Cabinet has decided to build a skydeck at an estimated cost of Rs 500 crore. Construction of an underground tunnel from Hebbal to Silk Board junction is expected to cost Rs 12,690 crore. The Karnataka Cabinet has decided to open 52 new Indira canteens in Bengaluru. 592 anganwadis are to be opened at a cost of Rs 50 crore.”

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister DK Shivakumar recently announced that opposition leaders from Bengaluru had approved the construction of the 250-metre-high skydeck near NICE Road.

“The opposition leaders and MPs representing Bengaluru have given the green light for the construction of the 250-metre-long skydeck near NICE Road on the outskirts of the city. We will place this before the Cabinet very soon and take it forward,” he said at a press conference after a meeting with the elected representatives of Bengaluru at Vidhana Soudha.

“The skydeck requires about 25 acres of land. We had shortlisted a plot near Kommaghatta and Bengaluru University campus but decided against it as it might impact students. We had shortlisted about 10 sites for this project but the aviation ministry had reservations due to the height of the skydeck. All elected representatives of Bengaluru, including Leader of Opposition R Ashoka, have approved the site on NICE Road,” he explained.

Earlier, the Karnataka Cabinet had approved the renaming of Ramanagara district as Bengaluru South. This was followed by an announcement by Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. “The (state) Cabinet has approved the renaming of Ramanagara district as Bengaluru South,” Karnataka Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister HK Patil announced at a press conference on Friday.
