Iron can be incredibly useful in 7 Days To Die. Here’s how to find it.

Although Nitrate Powder is not as abundant as other resources in the game, such as Iron and Stone, it can still be found fairly easily in most biomes. Most players will not have a great need for Nitrate Powder at first. However, as they progress, they will need to quickly mine large amounts of Nitrate Powder to meet all of their production needs.

Nitrate Powder Nodes can be found in all different biomes. However, they are much easier to find in the Pine Forest region. To find Nitrate Powder nodes, simply open your map and look for small white squares. These squares represent Nitrate Powder deposits. All you have to do is go to one of these deposits and start mining.

There is a different color for each of the core materials in the game. The full list is below:

  • iron – Dark brown
  • nitrate – White
  • Lead – Blue
  • Oil shale – Light brown
  • Money – Black

Once you’ve mined the Nitrate Powder on the surface, you can continue digging down to mine more Nitrate Powder. The surface node tends to branch out into thick ore veins below. You can expect walkways with lots of Nitrate Powder from just one deposit.

The mining helmet in 7 Days To Die

If you want to mine Nitrate Powder, there are a few things you can do to increase your yield. The first is the quality of your mining tool. At first, you will only have a regular stone axe. But over time, you will discover and unlock the ability to craft and purchase better mining tools at higher levels. The maximum tool level is level 6. There are several tools that can be used for mining. They are listed below in order from worst to best:

  • Stone axe
  • Iron axe
  • Steel axe
  • Snail

While the Drill is technically the best, it can be difficult to decapitate approaching zombies while using it, so it may be best to stick with the Steel Axe. The better the mining tool, the faster you can mine. There are two perks that directly affect mining: Miner 69’er and Mother Lode. While both of these skills are worth investing some points into, Mother Lode is the skill that directly increases the amount of ore you harvest.

To take it a step further, using the full Mining Set provides some great bonuses to help with mining. The best part of the set is the helmet. Depending on your level, wearing the Mining Helmet can increase the amount of ore you mine by a whopping 30%. If you combine that with some Rock Busters candy and the full set of The Art Of Mining books, you can almost double the amount of Nitrate Powder you get from mining.
