Walt Disney World actor receives Heroes Award after saving girl’s life
A Walt Disney World cast member was recently honored with the Disney Heroes Award after saving a guest’s life.
Actor honored for saving a guest
Nichole Shaw, Sales Experience Manager at Disney Vacation Club, was making her daily rounds at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort when she noticed a young girl choking. Shaw immediately jumped into action and helped save the guest’s life.
For her actions, Shaw was awarded the Disney Heroes Award, an honor given to Cast Members who perform extraordinary life-saving acts during or outside of work hours. She now wears a gold Disney Heroes charm on her name tag. Since the award’s inception in 2008, over 100 Cast Members have been honored with the award. Recipients have come from Disney locations across the United States, Tokyo and other countries.
“Looking down on this award every day reminds me that I am capable of anything, even the scary things,” Shaw said.

Previous Disney Heroes Award winners include a Disneyland janitor who saved a motorist in a car accident and an EPCOT security guard who rescued a four-year-old from a submerged car.
