The Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) will launch its 2024 edition in two months with a rare series of one-off opening concerts.

The five-day festival kicks off on October 16 with four intense music experiences that bring club culture to some of the city’s most impressive venues and feature a line-up of renowned artists such as Oceanic and LUXE.

Within the pristine glass walls of the Van Gogh Museum, Dutch singer-songwriter Eefje de Visser will perform an elegant, stripped-down interpretation of her songs, accompanied only by a piano, guitar and singers.

At the Door Open Space warehouse, the Cello Octet Amsterdam will play alongside eight custom-made robotic arms designed by audiovisual artist Nick Verstand. The robotic arms will create a spectacular light show as the orchestra plays.

At Bimhuis, Amsterdam’s iconic jazz café, genre boundaries blur as free jazz singer Greetje Bijma performs alongside electronic musician Oceanic. British producer LUXE then plays a live set that combines contemporary electronic sounds with classical sensibility.

The final event in the series will see the highly acclaimed Metropole Orkest return for its eighth consecutive year, this time in honor of groundbreaking hip-hop artist J Dilla. To celebrate 50 years of Dilla, the orchestra will reinterpret his music in jazz and pop styles, collaborating with multi-instrumentalist Miguel Atwood-Ferguson.
