Seth Meyers calls Schumer’s departure from the Democratic Party his Australian breakdance audition

Seth Meyers said Chuck Schumer’s dance before his speech at the Democratic National Convention looked like he was trying to make Australia’s infamous breakdancing team at the Olympics.

“Even the most buttoned-up politicians are letting go and showing off their moves,” Meyers said, before flashing to a video of Schumer cutting up a carpet as he walked on stage. “Looks like someone is trying to get on the Australian breakdancing team.”

Meyers didn’t hold back and released an entire clip full of comedic jabs at Schumer and his dance.

“‘My name is Chuck Schumer, but my breaking name is also Chuck Schumer.’ Looks like he’s sneaking up to steal a cake from a windowsill – ‘Don’t mind if I do.’ Besides, Chuck, it’s one thing to shuffle onto the podium like you’re doing the Electric Slide at a wedding, but that’s way too much upper-body dancing. This is what I look like at the gym on arm day.”

Meyers took the opportunity to joke about Australian breakdancer Raygun’s performance at the 2024 Olympics, which gained viral attention online and eventually became the subject of numerous comedic interludes from social media users and late-night TV hosts.

Before turning his back on Schumer, he turned his attention to another politician who likes to fool around randomly: Donald Trump.

“Still, he’s got better moves than Trump,” Meyers said when a video of Trump punching the ball was shown. He said both Schumer and Trump looked like geriatric gym rats.

“Just a couple of old guys doing exercises – Schumer is doing deadlifts, Trump is working out with resistance bands,” Meyers said.
