I saw the first episode of “Dr. House” in 2004 and never thought it would still be popular 20 years later

Summary

  • The popularity of “House” grew over time and showed how a series can learn from mistakes and evolve.
  • “House” maintained its concept and the complexity of its characters and was able to captivate viewers even as the seasons changed.
  • The first episodes of “Dr. House” laid the foundation, and later seasons took risks and introduced new dynamics.

After watching House When Season 1 first aired, I never imagined that it would become one of the most popular TV shows of its generation and would still be relevant over a decade after it ended. While some TV shows only got worse after their debut and should have ended in Season 1, House is a great example of how a series can learn from its mistakes and get better over time. Admittedly, House had ups and downs throughoutbut the first season only scratched the surface of the show’s potential.

House Premiere on November 16, 2004 and ran for eight seasons until May 21, 2012. HouseThe fact that the finale wasn’t as great as it could have been doesn’t affect the show’s legacy, which can still be felt today thanks to streaming. House continues to be discovered by new viewers around the world, whether they are fans of medical dramas or not. Unlike other shows in the same genre, House knew how to play with the formula and get the best out of the characters. HouseThe earlier seasons are fantastic, but the pilot episode itself, in retrospect, isn’t really that great.

When HouseEven when the first episode aired, it was clear what the show would be like – Gregory House, a doctor inspired by Sherlock Holmes, would solve the most difficult cases every week while proving himself to be a very difficult person. Although the premise of the show never really changed, House has evolved into more than just a medical procedure with a gimmick. House’s character became more complex with each episode, as did the members of his team. Compared to first season episodes like “Histories” or “Three Stories,” “Everybody Lies” is not one of my favorites.

HouseThe pilot is good and tells viewers what to expect from the series. The cold open, a narrative device that is used in almost every episode of Housesees a kindergarten teacher collapse in front of her class. Dr. Wilson lies that she is his cousin so that Housewho only accepts interesting cases would treat them. “Everybody Lies” clearly shows that Gregory House does not seem to care personally about the patientsa concept that is revisited and questioned several times throughout the show.

It took a while for “House” to become a popular television series

The first episodes of “Dr. House” are not among the best in the series

House Season 1 had some of the best episodes ever, especially “Histories” and “Three Stories”. Oddly enough, these didn’t happen until the end of the season. Although I was already enjoying the show, House captivated me when it turned out that it could do things outside of its procedural formula. “Histories” has no happy ending, while “Three Stories” takes the idea of an unreliable narrator to the extreme and reveals a lot about Greg House’s character. Stacy’s arrival added an interesting dynamic to the series, and in Season 2 House wasn’t afraid to take risks.

House
Cameron, Foreman and Chase could only work for Gregory House for a limited time because they were already experienced doctors, so a new team was brought in.

House Season 4 is perhaps my favorite season, partly because as a fan of the original team, I never thought the show could interest me in any new characters other than Foreman, Cameron and Chase. The fact that House continued to have great moments even after the main cast of the show’s doctors was changed is a testament to how consistent the show had become at this point. House While the quality did drop toward the end of the show, these weak moments cannot undermine the achievement of the majority of the series.

The enduring popularity of House is a testament to its strong original premise

House has never given up on its formula, which is a testament to how strong the show’s premise and Hugh Laurie’s character were from the beginning. Even the most formulaic, repetitive House Episodes were fun simply because House was a fascinating character. Not to mention Wilson, Cuddy and the members of HouseThe members of the team are all very approachable in different ways. HouseIt was fun to watch the creative medical casesbut I always loved that the show never stopped confronting its characters with complicated dilemmas and problems.

Every season of House has a unique charm, even those I consider to be the weakest of the show. While HouseThe premise of has never changed, but the characters have. Watching a conversation between Cameron and Chase in Season 1 is a very different experience than watching their marriage fall apart in Season 6. Smaller series with a similar structure to House could have become boring very quickly, which confirms once again how special the series was. Almost 20 years since I HouseI’m glad I gave the show a chance and I’m still a fan to this day.
