You don’t need a date and even left-footers are welcome to join in at some of the next dance parties.

A new group, the Dance for All Team, has planned several impromptu dances in the Okanagan.

The series of community dance events is hosted by Collaborate!, a British Columbia performing arts company, and a group of new ballroom dance callers, as well as various clubs and venues throughout the valley.

The events aim to bring people together for fun, fitness and community spirit. They are open to all ages and ability levels and provide an inclusive environment where everyone can enjoy the joy of dancing.

The first dance will be held on Saturday, August 24th from 2-4pm in Enderby near the Riverside Campground. Admission is free, but donations are welcome.

The Vernon Dance will take place on Saturday, August 31st from 2-4pm at the Halina Centre. Admission is $5 per person or $20 per family.

There will be a dance on Sunday, September 8th from 2-4 p.m. at Memorial Park in Armstrong. The cost to attend is $5 per person or $20 per family.

Kelowna residents can party on September 13th from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Church for $5 per person or $20 per family.

The community dances are intended to promote connection and joy through movement.

Led by experienced announcers from the Dance for All team, each session will introduce a variety of dance styles suitable for both beginners and experienced dancers.

No partner or previous dance experience is required.

“We believe in the power of dance to bring people together,” said Will Cullen, organizer and caller for the Dance for All team. “These events are a wonderful opportunity for the community to connect, have fun and stay active.”

The events are supported by Star Country Squares, who have donated money to cover start-up costs.
