The Paris Olympics may be over, but it’s not over for American Olympic medalist Stephen Nedoroscik. The gymnast is preparing to trade the pommel horse for the dance floor next season. Dancing with the stars.
On August 22, ABC announced on “Good Morning America” that Nedoroscik, an Olympic bronze medalist, would be the first celebrity contestant to compete for the coveted disco ball this fall.
Nedoroscik is the first male gymnast to compete in the show’s 19-year history. On GMA, the camera panned to the 25-year-old as he performed one of his pommel horse routines on the studio floor.
When asked by Robin Roberts if he would bring any of his pommel horse films to the dance floor, he replied, “I hope to bring some of those. I want to bring some flares, I want to bring some of that gymnastics. Maybe a backflip or a handstand. I want to have fun with it.”
“I’m very excited,” said the gymnast, adding that he said “yes” to the opportunity to immediately take part in the celebrity dance competition.

Nedoroscik, dubbed the “pommel horse guy” at the 2024 Paris Olympics, played a key role in securing bronze for the U.S. team in the men’s gymnastics team final – their first medal in 16 years.
“I think that was the greatest moment of my life,” the athlete told People after his record-breaking routine in the team final. “(I am)
so happy to have been there.”
The Worcester, MA native made waves on social media for his thick glasses, drawing comparisons to Clark Kent. When it was time to compete, Nedoroscik took off his glasses because he said he didn’t need his eyes to see the pommel horse.

The full cast of DWTS season 33 will be announced at a later date. Traditionally, the show announces the celebrity members and their professional partners in early September, just weeks before the premiere.
Reported cast members include Olympian Ilona Maher, Bachelor Nation’s Gerry Turner, Joey Graziadei and Joan Vassos, and recently retired NFL star Jason Kelce. Other fan favorites who could appear include Gypsy-Rose Blanchard, Baby reindeer Richard Gadd and talk show host Kelly Ripa.

Season 33 of Dancing with the stars returns September 17 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC and Disney+. New episodes can be streamed the next day on Hulu.
