TE Cam Sutton
Cam Sutton is no stranger to spring football. He played with the Vegas Vipers in the XFL in 2023, where he caught 12 passes for 140 yards that season. Sutton was stuck in an offense that struggled mightily all year – but was still able to make an impact when his name was called.
Sutton was signed by the Memphis Showboats of the UFL during training camp, but was unable to make the roster due to being a late addition. He has been a free agent since then and now wants to continue his professional career with the Roughnecks.
Cam Sutton has some NFL experience and signed with the Seattle Seahawks in 2021. He caught a few passes in the preseason but was released before the start of the regular season and has not made the roster since.
DB Armani Marsh
An excellent addition to this secondary is the signing of Armani Marsh. Armani spent his entire college career at Washington State University, starting 31 of 46 games. During his time there, he recorded 184 tackles, 10 TFLs, two sacks, 13 PBUs, two forced fumbles, and four interceptions.

Armani was twice an honorable mention All-Pac-12 Conference selection, which ultimately earned him a contract as a UDFA with the Tennessee Titans. In the 2023 NFL preseason, Armani totaled 10 tackles. He spent some time on the Titans’ practice squad but was released late last year.

Now Armani will bring depth and talent to the Roughnecks’ defense, which could use a little boost heading into 2025.
Final thoughts
The Houston Roughnecks need to see more of these kinds of transactions from General Manager Will Lewis. Marsh is the perfect example of a player with NFL potential (and experience) and should be able to provide Houston with real playmaking qualities in 2025.
