ROH WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH…

Mark Briscoe(c) vs. The Beast Mortos

On the July 31 edition of DYNAMITE, the union of ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe, Orange Cassidy and Tomohiro Ishii fell to the combination of The Beast Mortos, Roderick Strong and RUSH. However, the heaviest part of this defeat fell on the shoulders of the ROH World Champion, as he was pinned to the mat by The Beast Mortos. It was the biggest victory the monstrous luchador had during his AEW career and although Mark was able to redeem himself a little at COLLISION a few days later, it was in an 8-man tag and neither man was involved in the end of the match.

But the pinfall against Mortos is clearly still fresh in Mark’s mind, because after defeating Johnny TV, he challenged The Beast Mortos to a championship match tonight during Honor Club! Mark has been a busy man over the last month: he won Blood & Guts as part of Team AEW, defended his ROH World Title against Roderick Strong two days later at DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR 2024, and defeated the Premier Athletes in a Trios match just 24 hours after that! But that was just the beginning of Mark’s wild month; he had the aforementioned Trios and Eight-Man with The Beast Mortos on July 31 and August 3, then last week’s match against Johnny TV, followed by a Conglomeration Trios win over The Butcher and The Outrunners a day later, and now he’s set to step into the ring for that Championship match with The Beast Mortos!

After all that physical exertion in such a short period of time, does Mark Briscoe still have enough fighting spirit to fend off the challenge of such a powerful individual as The Beast Mortos? We’ll find out tonight in the Honor Club!

ROH World Six-Man Champions Dustin Rhodes, Marshall Von Erich and Ross Von Erich and ROH World Tag Champion Sammy Guevara

Undisputed Kingdom (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett) and Dark Order (Alex Reynolds & John Silver)

In the main event of last week’s ROH ON HONOR CLUB, Dustin Rhodes and The Von Erichs put their ROH World Six-Man Titles on the line against Cage of Agony, and although it was an extremely hard-fought battle for the champions, they seemed to have victory in the bag when Alex Reynolds, John Silver, Evil Uno, Matt Taven and Mike Bennett stormed the ring to disrupt proceedings. Dustin and The Von Erichs technically got the win by disqualification, but the relentless assault continued despite Sammy Guevara, Angelico, Serpentico and Fuego del Sol all trying to even the odds. One by one, they all fell, as did all the security guards who tried to help, and it was only the arrival of officials like Jerry Lynn and Christopher Daniels that ended the assault.

It’s no surprise that Undisputed Kingdom and Dark Order both want a piece of this Texan quartet, after all it was Dark Order who lost to Rhodes and the Von Erichs in the ROH World Six-Man Eliminator Match at DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR 2024, and it was Undisputed Kingdom who they beat at BATTLE OF THE BELTS XI to claim the vacant titles. That may have been the impetus for this attack, but considering that Undisputed Kingdom also lost their ROH World Tag Titles to Dustin and Sammy Guevara last week at COLLISION, just two days after this attack, hostilities have now truly escalated!

Dustin, Sammy, Ross and Marshall look to settle the score for what happened last Thursday, while Dark Order and UK plan a repeat of their last attack! Will the gold-laden quartet from the Lonestar State give their enemies the punishment they deserve tonight?

Tony Nese and Lio Rush are no strangers to each other. Their first fight was nearly eight years ago in Philadelphia and since then they have fought each other a total of three times. Nese has the edge in that trio of fights, 2-1, but it has been more than four years since they last met and both men’s careers have gone through many changes in that time. Despite everything that has happened, Nese and Lio Rush are back in the same ring after all that time and tonight they will fight their fourth ever singles fight at the behest of Paul Wight.

For Nese, this is a fight that could very well determine his future as a champion in Ring of Honor. Wight himself said that if Tony wins, they would talk about what that future would hold, but defeating Lio is easier said than done. Lio picked up a big win over long-time rival Blake Christian last week in Honor Club, while Tony Nese came up short in a loss to Tomohiro Ishii the week before that. So if there is momentum, it is certainly on Lio Rush’s side. Can he keep it up in another fight with an old rival, or will Nese (and likely his fellow Premier Athletes) find a way to get the win?

What we have here is a first for both participants; neither Angelico nor Aaron Solo have ever competed in a Pure Rules match, but tonight at Honor Club they will share that experience together! Given Angelico’s ring style, this seems to be a tailor-made match for him, but Aaron Solo is no slouch in the world of technical wrestling himself. With fourteen years of experience and training at Lance Storm’s school in Canada, he has learned a thing or two about mat fighting, and he will have to use everything he has to take on Angelico’s llave game! Will a win here pave the way for the winner to face ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty?

Cage of Agony (Bishop Kaun, Brian Cage and Toa Liona) vs. ROH World Television Champion Atlantis Jr., Fuego del Sol and Serpentico

Following their frustrating loss by disqualification to the ROH World Six-Man Championship last week, which came at the hands of Dark Order and Undisputed Kingdom, Cage of Agony is back at it tonight with this Honor Club Trios Bout! Brian Cage and Atlantis Jr. were the final two competitors in the ROH World TV Championship Survival of the Fittest match at DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR 2024, which saw the defending champion put “The Machine” to the mat to retain his title, so Cage is looking forward to an opportunity to even that score at the event in July. Cage of Agony certainly has the experience advantage of their opponents meeting for the first time, but that unfamiliarity also means opponents don’t know how they fit together. That unpredictability could be the key to Atlantis Jr.’s team gaining victory over Ring of Honor’s trio of giants!

-Cool Hand Ang & Daddy Magic!

-Plus Marina Shafir vs. Tiara James!!
