Auto parts supplier relies on Penetron to increase the longevity of its new manufacturing facility in Alabama
Shinhwa Auto USA is a leading supplier of aluminum die-cast parts to the North American automotive industry. Its products include key components such as drive shafts and axle assemblies. The company initially selected Auburn as his USA The production site will open in 2019 and this new project will add a 15,000 m² production building to the Shinhwa campus in Auburn Technology Park West.
The 114 million US dollars The expansion will expand Shinhwa’s capacity in die-casting operations and related processes to produce control arm covers, steering knuckles, beams and engine housings used in the production of parts for electric vehicles from Hyundai, Kia and other automakers in North America.
Due to the generally high groundwater levels in the east Alabamathe Shinhwa car USA The project manager specified PENETRON ADMIX SB, a crystalline additive, for the underground concrete production pits.
“The production pits in Auburn are essentially concrete boxes set into the factory floor – where they can be very vulnerable to groundwater infiltration,” adds Christopher ChenDirector of the Penetron Group. “Over time, this can directly affect the structural integrity of the foundation structures of the entire production facility if they are not adequately protected.”
Thanks to previous successes with many similar projects throughout USAPenetron’s crystalline additive was quickly adopted as a long-term concrete waterproofing solution for Auburn Furnishings.
“Shinhwa recognized the benefits of PENETRON ADMIX SB in reducing the cost of concrete waterproofing and extending the service life of the treated concrete structures,” notes Christopher Chen.
Ready mix USAthe project’s ready-mix concrete supplier, added PENETRON ADMIX SB – in measured soluble bags – to the concrete mix during the dosing phase for the production pits.
Once added to the concrete, the active ingredients in PENETRON ADMIX SB form a non-soluble crystalline network that forms in the pores, capillaries and microcracks of the concrete. This network significantly increases the durability and lifespan of the concrete and gives the concrete structures in Auburn the ability to self-heal and seal any microcracks that may occur. This virtually eliminates the need for future concrete repairs.
“Sealing and protecting concrete with PENETRON ADMIX SB has been proven to improve the durability and service life of any concrete structure,” the conclusion Christopher Chen.
