Former Virginia golfer Lauren Coughlin has officially secured a spot on the U.S. Solheim Cup team, which will be played in less than 25 days at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia (off Route 29).

Coughlin is on a roll on the LPGA Tour, winning her second tournament title in just 21 days, winning the Women’s Scottish Open last weekend and the Canadian Women’s Open a couple of weeks ago. She has five other top-10 finishes this season, including a third-place finish at the Chevron Championship.

“There’s probably no better player on the LPGA Tour right now than Lauren,” said Stacy Lewis, captain of the U.S. Solheim Cup team. “It’s been great to see her win two of the last three events and play the way she’s played all year.”

“She popped up on our radar late last year and it’s great to see her game continue to improve in 2024. With her Virginia connections, this will be a cool Solheim Cup for her, so I’m excited for Lauren that she gets to experience the full week with Robert Trent Jones as a Solheim rookie.”

The Solheim Cup will be played at RTJ from September 13-15. For more information, visit: https://www.solheimcupusa.com/.

Lewis hopes many Virginia residents will come out to support Coughlin at the event as the U.S. hopes to host its first Solheim Cup since 2017.
