Cintas has announced the 10 finalists in the 2024 America’s Best Toilet contest. The 23rd annual contest recognizes companies that develop and maintain innovative restroom facilities. The public is invited to vote for their favorite finalist here through August 16.

“We are pleased to announce this year’s finalists, all of whom demonstrate a commitment to cleanliness, functionality and innovative design,” said John Rudy, senior director of marketing at Cintas. “Well-maintained facilities play a critical role in customer satisfaction and loyalty. These finalists excel in both hygiene and design, creating an outstanding restroom experience for all.”

The top 10 finalists in the America’s Best Toilet 2024 competition include (in alphabetical order):

1. Hop shops (Florence, Kentucky): This cool restroom in the HOP Shops supermarket features trendy tiles and green soap dispensers. You can press the big red button to start the disco party with neon lights, a spinning disco ball, and music. This unique restroom is clean and stylish enough to host a wedding!

2. Indiana Caves (Corydon, Indiana): Indiana Caverns is the longest cave in Indiana. It offers a wide range of activities including zip lines, escape rooms and gem mining. When you enter the restrooms, you’ll forget you’re in a cave. The spacious restrooms were designed for convenience and hygiene. The walls and floors are tiled with simple, easy-to-clean materials in neutral colors. Multiple stalls make the restrooms functional and comfortable for visitors.

3. Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium (Kansas City, Missouri): The Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium is a 202-acre wildlife sanctuary that draws visitors with nearly 10,000 animals, as well as exceptional educational programs and amenities — including restrooms. The beautiful, gender-inclusive restrooms at the new Sobela Ocean Aquarium were created with inclusivity and sustainability in mind, featuring toddler seats, changing tables, a mother-child room and more in one immaculately clean space. There’s also a universal adult-sized changing table, the second installed at the zoo. Automatic lighting, water and flushing are just a few of the sustainable components that help the zoo fulfill its commitment to conservation.

4. Lambeau Field (Green Bay, Wisconsin): The restrooms at Lambeau Field, home of the Green Bay Packers, are designed to accommodate large crowds and enhance the fan experience. Restrooms feature modern amenities and are numerous and spacious, reducing wait times. Lambeau Field has accommodated all guests by installing an electric, height-adjustable adult-sized changing table in the atrium restroom. In addition, Lambeau Field emphasizes cleanliness and efficient maintenance to keep the restrooms in top condition throughout the event.

5. CRAZY (Houston, Texas): Designed by Lazaro Rosa-Violan, MAD’s eclectic restroom blends Spanish flair with a cosmic theme, paying homage to Houston’s Space City motif. The restroom corridor is covered in mirrors, and neon lights reflecting vibrant hues create the illusion of infinite space, adding to the surreal and stunning atmosphere of the space. The restroom itself is made of Spanish tiles, contrasted with sleek, futuristic neon lights and metallic accents.

6. Maverik – America’s First Stop (Salt Lake City, Utah): The first stop on an adventure isn’t just to fill up your car. Maverik’s restrooms deserve recognition for their commitment to cleanliness and comfort, with shiny fixtures, spacious booths and fresh amenities that make every pit stop on your adventure a pleasant experience. Maverik’s restrooms go the extra mile, offering touches like adventurous decor and even family-friendly features at over 500 stores in 13 western states. In fact, USA Today names Maverik as having the cleanest gas station restrooms in Arizona, Colorado, Nevada and Utah.

7. Maximilian Motorsports (Chehalis, Washington): The restroom at Maximilian Motorsports is no ordinary place. It is a stunning blend of luxury and automotive passion, with each wall adorned with iconic and unique automotive memorabilia that is meaningful to the owner and the workshop. A standout feature is the sink and faucet, which were repurposed from a Peugeot rally car. The faucet’s rugged, utilitarian design reflects the robust performance and reliability of rally cars. Upcycled license plates cover the walls and the cloakroom is adorned with Mercedes emblems. Each element has been carefully chosen to immerse visitors in the world of automotive excellence.

8. Morning Glory (San Diego): Located in the heart of San Diego’s Little Italy, Morning Glory aims to make brunch an extravagant event. The restrooms feature floor-to-ceiling mirrors and mirrored tiles that create a shimmering effect from every angle. Custom-made pink lamps hang from the ceiling, echoing 1980s-style design elements found in the restaurant’s dining room. The restroom also features a custom-made seashell-shaped sink and wing faucet.

9. Natchez Trace State Park Visitor Center (Wildersville, Tennessee): Designed to be accessible to all, the unisex restroom at the Natchez Trace State Park Visitor Center features an adult changing table that provides a stable and sanitary surface for caregivers and those in need of assistance. This wall-mounted table easily folds against the wall when not in use and is electronically controlled so it can be lowered to 12 inches and raised to 39 inches, supporting over 400 pounds. Additionally, the spacious restroom features tiled walls and floors, a standard toilet, and multiple grab bars to facilitate mobility.

10. Throne toilets (Brentwood, Maryland): Throne is committed to providing reliable access to restrooms whenever and wherever it is needed. The restrooms are innovative, high-tech mobile toilets designed for a modern and hygienic experience. They offer a touchless, clean and convenient solution for public spaces such as parks, outdoor areas and urban areas. Each Throne is equipped with a series of smart sensors that inform service operations and ensure the restroom remains clean.

The top 10 finalists were selected based on cleanliness, visual appeal, innovation, functionality and unique design elements. The winner will be honored with a spot in America’s Best Restroom Hall of Fame and will receive a Cintas UltraClean restroom cleaning service and $2,500 toward facility services or restroom cleaning from Cintas.

Last year, Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport was named “America’s Best Restroom” for its intelligent restroom system, which featured a spacious design and fully enclosed cabins for increased privacy.
