Paul Walker’s younger brother has reportedly been recruited to help Universal Pictures complete the actor’s work on the seventh film in the Fast and Furious franchise.

Walker was taking a break from filming Fast & Furious 7 when he was killed in a tragic car crash last month. Following the accident, the studio shut down production to give the cast and crew a chance to mourn their friend.

But now they seem to be preparing to finish work on the film – and they need some help.

25-year-old Cody Walker, who has worked as a stuntman and resembles his brother, was asked to act as a double.

A source told MailOnline: ‘Producers had a series of meetings immediately after Paul’s death.

“They quickly realized they needed someone who looked like Paul to complete the film, so they turned to his almost identical brother Cody.

“They can film Cody from behind and from a distance, and if they need a close-up of Paul’s face, they can CGI it later.

“If Cody agrees, it is because he wants to honor his brother’s memory. There are still many details that need to be worked out, but right now the family, cast and crew are still grieving.”

If the studio approves final revisions to Chris Morgan’s script, production could resume in early January. Universal has promised to work with the Walker family to ensure the film provides a fitting exit for Paul’s character, Brian O’Connor.

A studio spokesperson told MailOnline: “Right now, all of us at Universal are busy supporting Paul’s immediate family and our extended Fast & Furious family of cast, crew and filmmakers.

“At this time, we feel it is our duty to temporarily halt production on Fast & Furious 7 so that we can explore all available options to continue with the series. We are committed to keeping Fast & Furious fans updated and will provide them with more information as we have it. Until then, we know they join us in mourning the passing of our dear friend Paul Walker.”

Walker’s funeral is scheduled to take place this weekend in California.
