‘Desperate’ woman knocked to the ground when ‘big’ dog jumps on her

A woman was knocked to the ground after a “stocky” dog jumped on her in a park.

The dog was seen running loose with another dog when the incident occurred. The woman, who was reportedly walking her own dog, fell when one of the dogs jumped on her, resulting in a “minor facial injury.” She was said to be “distraught” by the incident.

Neighbours on Lincombe Road on the north side of Jubilee Park said they saw several police vehicles arrive on the street shortly after 3pm to deal with the incident.

Witnesses saw the two dogs, described as “large and stocky,” running away from the park along Lincombe Road. They were reportedly not wearing a muzzle or a leash.

On Facebook, a neighbor said he saw the victim “run into a garden to get to safety.”

Another said he saw the dog owner come to pick up the dogs and he “gave her a leash to put on one of the dogs.” After the dogs were caught and leashed, police officers on the scene gave their owner advice on how to safely handle them in the future.

Speaking to the ECHO, a woman who was at the children’s playground in Jubilee Park with her daughter shortly after the incident said that she had seen more and more dogs in the park in recent months because the “green area where dog owners normally go has been closed off” and dog owners are therefore forced to go to Jubilee Park.

She said: “It would be nice to have a children’s park where children can play – people used to have more choice.”

A statement from Merseyside Police said: “We were called to Jubilee Park in Huyton at around 3.20pm to reports of two lost dogs.”

“One of the dogs reportedly jumped on a woman in the park, causing her discomfort and suffering a minor facial injury in the fall.

“Dog patrols were deployed in the park, ensuring that dogs were kept on a leash and providing advice to owners.
