Megalopolis trailer removed, Lionsgate apologizes for misquoting critics | Lionsgate, Megalopolis | Just Jared: Celebrity news and gossip

Lionsgate speaks out after trailer for upcoming film was removed Big city.

A trailer for the film from the director Francis Ford Coppola and with stars like Adam DriverPremiere on Wednesday (August 21). It began with a call to critics who have previously reviewed Francis‘ Movies.

However, some of the quotes appear to be fabricated, while others have been incorrectly cited.

The studio issued a statement to Variety about the decision to remove the trailer from the internet.

“Lionsgate is immediately recalling our trailer for Big city”, they said. “We sincerely apologize to the critics involved and to Francis Ford Coppola and American Zoetrope for this inexcusable error in our review process. We screwed up. We are sorry.”

The trailer began by repeating some negative reviews from Francis‘ films, with the note: “True genius is often misunderstood.”

Owen Gleibermanwho works for Variety commented that he was misquoted in the trailer.

“Even if you are one of those people who don’t like critics, we hardly deserve to have words put in our mouths. On the other hand, the trivial scandal of all this is that the whole thing Big city Trailer is based on a false narrative,” he said. “Critics loved The GodfatherAnd although Apocalypse now was controversial but received much critical support. As for my reputation Bram Stoker’s Dracula “A beautiful mess,” I only wish I had said that! In relation to this film, it sounds nice now.”

The film will premiere on September 27th and will also feature stars such as Aubrey Plaza, Shia LaBeouf, Jon Voight, Laurence Fishburne, Kathryn Hunter And Dustin Hoffman.
