Minecraft Fans were able to enjoy new content this week as the developers unveiled a new DLC expansion based on the iconic Nickelodeon cartoon. SpongeBob SquarePants. The package contains several important locations from SpongeBob’s Bikini Bottom, which players can build and explore entirely within the Bedrock Edition of. Minecraft-Games, and is now available for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Minecraft: Bedrock Edition is the console exclusive version of Minecraft which, unlike the Java version on PC, includes a variety of DLC packs for purchase that expand the mechanics in different ways. The Bedrock version even features an exclusive in-game store where players can purchase character skins, visual shaders, and explorable adventure maps using Minecoins, the in-game premium currency used in Minecraft Marketplace.

As the latest addition to the DLC shop of the Bedrock version, developer Mojang announced a new SpongeBob SquarePants Add-on for Minecraft with a short trailer showing some of the new player skins and locations. In the trailer Minecraft Players walk around the game’s overworld and interact with various SpongeBob Characters like SpongeBob himself, Patrick, Mr. Krabs and several others building various locations of Bikini Bottom.

New Minecraft package offers fans more SpongeBob

According to the trailer, players can create and place various buildings and locations from SpongeBob SquarePants through the overworld and build their very own Bikini Bottom. Along the way, they can complete side quests, bosses and mini-games for various characters from the series while building their perfect SpongeBob Paradise by placing different buildings on the map, similar to Animal crossing.

Minecraft has released several mash-up packs for the Bedrock Edition of the game in the past, with a gradual introduction of skin and texture packs for properties such as Star Wars, and even the Switch-exclusive Super Mario Mashup Package. Previous DLC packages deviate from the usual Minecraft mechanics in different ways, alongside a ton of official and player-made expansions that can be purchased from the in-game store with Minecoins.

Unfortunately for Minecraft Players on the Nintendo Switch, the new SpongeBob SquarePants The add-on is not yet available, as the trailer’s description confirms that the pack is still in development for that platform. There is currently no known release window for DLC on the Switch version, but it is already available for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of Minecraft: Bedrock Edition for 1,510 Minecoins or $8.99.
