Reigning champion Ko Ping Chung comfortably secured his place in the last 64 by defeating Fitim Haradinaj 9-4, while his brother Ko Pin Yi also progressed comfortably, defeating Toh Lian Han with a 9-3 win.

Shane Van Boening’s quest for his sixth US Open title gained significant momentum following his triumphs on days two and three, which saw him advance to the round of 64. Thanks to his precise execution of safety shots in his match against Imran Majid, the South Dakota Kid built up an early 3-0 lead, which he defended until the 9-5 victory.

Meanwhile, four former US Open champions – Francisco Sanchez Ruiz, Joshua Filler, Jayson Shaw and Carlo Biado – faced unexpected obstacles on their way to the next round, suffering defeats in their opening matches. However, they redeemed themselves in the losers’ qualifying round, with “Eagle Eye” Shaw taking the lead and stopping Hunter Lombardo 9-7.

Carlo Biado followed Shaw’s example and bounced back impressively with a dominant 9-1 victory over Jerry Arvelaez. Filler, true to his nickname “The Killer”, put in a ruthless performance to defeat Jeremy Sossei 9-0, joining former world champion Francisco Sanchez Ruiz, who bounced back in his second match with a 9-5 victory over Georgi Georgiev.

World champion and WNT No. 1 Fedor Gorst also struggled in his opening match, losing to Ukraine’s Vitaliy Patsura 9-4. However, Gorst quickly improved on his earlier performance and recorded a solid 9-6 win over American Payne McBride to follow on with his first US Open Championship title.

Max Lechner comfortably advanced to the round of 64 with a clear 9-2 victory over American Donny Mills. Unfortunately, his partner at the World Cup of Pool, Albin Ouschan, was not as successful, suffering a 9-2 defeat to Canadian Alex Pagulayan. However, Ouschan recovered along with fellow Austrian Mario He and both secured victories in their final matches against Luong Duc Thien and Toh Lian Han respectively.

Earl Strickland’s quest to win a sixth title ended in disappointment when he lost 8-5 to Filipino Marvin Asis in the losers’ qualifying round. Mieszko Fortunski, Tyler Styer, Darren Appleton and Billy Thorpe also suffered early exits on the third day.
