“Pass Over” is coming to Ground Floor Theater

Skip is a rare piece of politically charged theatre from a bold new American voice and comes to the Ground Floor Theatre tomorrow from Antoinette Chinonye Nwandu. This powerful drama is directed by Simone Raquel Alexander.

In Pass Over, Moses and Kitch talk nonsense, pass the time and hope that maybe today will be different. While they dream of their promised land, a stranger comes into their room and disrupts their plans. In its 85 minutes, the film evokes heartbreak, hope and joy. Skip transforms everyday swear words into poetic and humorous riffs, illuminating the resilient human spirit of young men searching for a way out.

The cast includes Sibonelo Shezi as Moses, Adonis Anderson as Kitch and Nathan Jerkins as Mister/Ossifer. Set design is by Freddie Demps, lighting design is by J. Mwaki and costumes are by Desiree Humphries.

Ground Floor Theatre (GFT) produces works that focus on historically underrepresented communities. It serves as an incubator to nurture and develop new and groundbreaking works that spotlight groups that are often overlooked. It is also a place where Austin’s theatre community comes together and learns from one another to help Austin continue to stand out as a leading theatre in the national theatre community.
