Thursday is the last night for the DNC

August 21 – Thursday is the final day of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, where Kamala Harris and Tim Walz make their rounds.

Harris will speak tomorrow.

Last night the Obamas took the stage – both Barack and Michelle.

Pat Ryan of NewsTalk 103.7FM said: “It was all about Kamala being great. Kamala being wonderful. Donald sucks and there’s nothing serious about him other than pointing fingers. Trump changed his mind at the right time. It’s about the economy. It’s about crime, it’s about societal norms, it’s about the future, it’s about our respect.”

Attorney Clint Barkdoll said: “So far, things are going well. The Obamas, Michelle and Barack Obama, gave very forceful speeches last night supporting Harris but at the same time sharply attacking Donald Trump. None of this was a surprise. I mean, this is what people expect from these conventions. Last night they also announced that there are these Republicans for Harris that they put up every night. Some of those people spoke.”

Bill Clinton will speak tonight.

Barkdoll said, “It’s going to be a big speech. He’s known for his very long ramblings. Barack Obama didn’t start until after 11 p.m. yesterday. I’m not sure what strategy the Democrats are pursuing with these late-night speeches. The Nielsen ratings were very high despite the midnight speech with Biden on Monday night. I don’t know when Harris is scheduled to speak tomorrow, but she’ll finish tomorrow night. There are a few reports, none of them confirmed, that she might arrange a 60 Minutes interview with Walz this weekend or the following. She hasn’t given any interviews yet and her campaign site hasn’t posted any policy positions yet. If you look at the convention, you’ll see that it’s very well produced but has very little policy content.”

Bernie Sanders gave a speech last night and addressed some political issues.

Barkdoll said: “But there is practically nothing left of the official campaign.”

Michele Jansen of NewsTalk 103.7FM noted, “You would argue, oh, the conventions are all about fun and hurting the other candidate and cheering on our candidates, you don’t expect politics here, but she’s been in this position for how long? A month. I’m on her campaign site right now. You met Kamala Harris. Meet Tim Walz. Get active and there’s a store and all kinds of places you can donate to. I don’t know what you donate to. Are you wondering what I’m donating to? They’re not even telling me what we’re going to do. In North Carolina, they start voting in a couple of days, in a couple of days, and early voting is absurd. In Pennsylvania, we should start voting pretty soon, too. What are you actually voting for? They’re not telling you that.”

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and his vice presidential candidate JD Vance are in North Carolina today.

Barkdoll pointed out, “Today marks exactly 30 days since Biden dropped out of the race, and I know so much seems to have changed in that time, but today is 30 days and still nothing. I’ve been saying for a long time that the calendar is in her favor, but she can’t get away with that much longer. When she does the 60 Minutes interview, she will no doubt face a lot of questions about policy positions, and perhaps tomorrow night she will lay out a number of agenda items. Now, of course, they have adopted the platform, which outlines all the policy positions in a very general sense, but nothing concrete is coming from her anymore.”
