LAFC is on course for success in the Leagues Cup

The Los Angeles Football Club is in another semifinal, this time in the League Cup, defeating the Seattle Sounders 3-0 at Lumen Field on Saturday, August 17.

The Black and Gold are having a blast, as LAFC has knocked out three MLS teams in this competition. LAFC beat Austin FC 2-0 in the Round of 32, destroyed the San Jose Earthquakes 4-1, and recently beat the Seattle Sounders 3-0.

LAFC will play Colorado Rapids this Wednesday, August 21st at BMO Stadium. If they beat Colorado Rapids, LAFC will play two familiar faces: Philadelphia Union and Columbus Crew, two teams LAFC has played in the MLS Cup finals the past two years.

Recap

Not only did LAFC beat the Seattle Sounders last Saturday, but they also beat the Seattle Sounders 3-0 away in MLS a month ago.

The Black and Golds were wide awake for almost 90 minutes and could have scored more goals. Although the Seattle Sounders had good moments, LAFC was the better team overall.

LAFC surprised the Sounders at the back and Ryan Hollingshead took advantage of the opportunity to shoot a goal past Stefan Frei.

From a set piece, experienced Kei Kamara scored with a half-volley after a terrible defensive move by the Seattle Sounders.

In the 53rd minute, Hugo Lloris found Denis Bouanga and finished the game with a shot from close range.

Can LAFC win the Leagues Cup?

Of the four teams participating, LAFC is the favorite to win the League Cup. LAFC crushed Mexican team Tijuana 3-0. In the knockout rounds, the Black and Gold beat Austin 2-0, demolished the San Jose Earthquakes 4-1 and beat Seattle 3-0 away.

LAFC has kept three clean sheets and conceded three goals. The defenders will need to stay focused and the experience of Hugo Lloris will help with that.
