We have researched and rated dozens of window brands and companies using a comprehensive rating system. Our research process includes in-depth market analysis, reading customer reviews and speaking with industry experts to understand each company’s products, services and installation processes. We then use our detailed rating system to assign each company a rating out of 5 stars on the following 100-point scale:

• Costs and financing (30 points): We award points based on the cost of window products and services. Companies receive the most points for offering affordable options for $350 or less. Companies receive additional points for offering additional financing options, such as loans.
• Window types (18 points): In this category, companies receive points if they offer several types of windows, such as casement, single or double windows, panoramic, awning, bay, sliding, garden and special-shaped windows.
• Reputation and experience (15 points): We rate window brands based on years of experience and weight reputation based on the company’s rating with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Companies receive additional points for accreditation by the BBB.
• Additional features (12 points): In this category, window brands that offer additional features, such as individual fitting adjustment, multiple glass options, Energy Star certification or an inward-tilting window sash, receive points.
• Warranty scope (10 points): Window companies that provide manufacturer and processing guarantees receive full marks in this category.
• Other services (9 points): We also rate window companies based on the additional services they offer. Companies can earn points if they also install interior or exterior doors and offer additional services such as roof and facade work.
• Customer service (6 points): To evaluate customer support, we examine each company’s communication methods. Window brands earn points if they offer free quotes, 24/7 customer service, and other forms of support like online and text chat.
