The replacement of Zeus is currently uncertain
For those who don’t know, the actor who played Zeus Lance Reddick, died in early 2023. Reddick would have played a much more significant role in the series, as he has only appeared in one episode of the series so far. The actor has appeared in many franchises, such as The John Wick Movies, Edge area on Fox, TheWire on HBO (which somehow has never won an Emmy for outstanding drama) and many more.
The topic of recasting an actor like Reddick has come up since then. However, according to an interview the executive producers did with Deadline In February 2024, Jon Steinberg said they weren’t quite “there” yet when it came to figuring out who would play the character next, as everyone was still trying to process the news:
Only time will tell who will play Zeus.
What will season 2 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians be about?
Although there are no exact details about the plot of the series yet, we have a rough idea of what Season 2 will be about:
Season 2 will adapt “The Sea of Thieves”
During the first season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, We have mainly followed the events of the first book. Now Jon Steinberg has told The Walt Disney Company that the second season will be similar to the first, taking the book on which the season is based and finding “its soul” for the series:
We know from Disney that Season 2 will officially follow the story of the second book, The Sea of Monsters, They say it takes place a year later, when everything changes and Grover is gone. Oh, and Kronos has laid siege to Camp Half-Blood. Adventure awaits.
There will most likely be more moments between Sally and Poseidon
If you were a fan of the moment between Percy Jackson’s mother Sally and his biological father Poseidon in episode seven, get excited – because there are going to be more moments like this.
In an interview with diversity In January 2024, Jon Steinberg confirmed that we will “experience” many more of these moments between them:
The love story of Percy and Annabeth will be like in the books
I’m sure we all noticed the hugs between Percy and Annabeth and immediately thought of their relationship in the books. And thankfully, it seems that their love story in the series isn’t rushed, but told at a steady pace like in the novels.
In the same Variety article about the moments between Sally and Poseidon, Steinberg commented on the relationship between the two, saying that they wanted to build the romance and start as a real connection first since they are still kids at the moment:
