Berry has noticed Brosnan’s kindness towards her in the past on the set of the film, including in 2020 when she was seen during an appearance on The Tonight Show that Brosnan once saved her from suffocating while they were filming a scene together.

“I had to be totally sexy and seduce him with a fig,” she said at the time. “And then he had to get up and do the Heimlich maneuver. Not sexy at all. You should have seen that – James Bond knows the Heimlich maneuver.”

Berry’s appearance in Die another day proved so popular that the producers of the Bond films began working on a spin-off film for her character, but as diversity in September 2020 reported that the studio had decided not to pursue the idea any further.

“It was very disappointing. It was ahead of its time,” she told the network at the time about the idea. “Nobody was willing to put that much money into a black female action star. They just weren’t sure what it was worth. That’s where we were at the time.”
