Brandon Brown, Giants assistant GM: “We don’t want to sign a new quarterback, why should we?”

The Giants say they are betting everything on Daniel Jones.

Although Jones’ preseason performance hasn’t exactly inspired much confidence, Giants assistant general manager Brandon Brown said the Giants aren’t considering any changes to their current quarterback roster of Jones, Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito.

“If you look at it, I would say no,” Brown told New York Daily News. “Why should we be active in the quarterback market? right now? DJ has been free of an ACL injury for nine months and he got his first game against Houston. It’s all part of the development process. He’s got to get used to his weapons and we’ve got to be able to protect him. I think what the O-line showed in the preseason is that there’s continued continuity. We all believe there’s going to be a development process here where we can continue to build continuity and DJ gets more comfortable the more reps we get.”

The Giants wanted to be in the quarterback market in the draft, and Hard Knocks showed viewers how the team tried to get into the top three picks and take a quarterback. But when that didn’t work out, they decided to stick with Jones. He is guaranteed $36 million in 2024, and will need to have a very successful year to justify signing him in 2025.
