Mahindra Thar Roxx: Can a 1.95 meter tall person fit comfortably in it?

The 5-door Mahindra Thar Roxx is finally available in India. With new design elements, revised interiors, more features and a better safety package, the Thar has never been more appealing to the masses. It is no longer considered a mere “selfish buy” as your family won’t have to do Olympic gymnastics to get into the back seat.

But is the Thar Roxx suitable for tall passengers? Can they sit back to back? We find the answer to these questions in our Instagram video below by having our Associate Editor, Tushar Kamath, a 6’5″ giant, sit behind his own driver’s seat.

As you can see, Tushar somehow managed to sit in the back seat behind his own driver’s seat, but his knees didn’t fit behind the backrest. He had to wrap his knees around the seats to be able to sit there. So the Thar Roxx doesn’t have room for 6’5″ people back to back, but what car can? Let us know in the comments.

What we can say is that the Thar Roxx has enough space to accommodate two 6′ tall people back to back. We had our editor, Ameya Dandekar (6′ tall), sit behind his own driver’s seat and he had enough legroom. As for headroom, it was ample, not just for Ameya but also for Tushar.

Tushar’s size is one of the rarest cars in India and for average or even above average adults, the Thar Roxx offers enough space to sit back to back comfortably. To get a detailed insight into the Thar Roxx and its qualities, you can check out our initial review.

The Thar Roxx is still available with petrol and diesel engines, but now they have been upgraded in terms of power. The 2-litre turbo petrol engine produces 162 PS/330 Nm with the 6-speed manual and 177 PS/380 Nm with the 6-speed automatic transmission. The 2.2-litre diesel engine is available in two power outputs: 152 PS/330 Nm and 175 PS/370 Nm. The latter is limited to the 6-speed AT 4WD variants, however. The 152 PS engine is available with both manual and automatic transmissions. The petrol engine is not available with 4WD, but you can get both rear- and 4WD with the diesel engine.
