Three women rescued from first floor fire in Selhurst

Firefighters rescued three people from a house fire in Dagnall Park, Selhurst, last night.

Half of the first floor of a semi-detached house was damaged by fire. Emergency workers rescued three women from a first floor balcony using a ladder. They were taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service paramedics.

The fire service was called shortly after midnight and by 1:25 a.m. the fire was under control. Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters from Croydon, Woodside and Norbury fire stations were on the scene.

A London Fire Brigade spokesman said: “Firefighters recommend that you take a look at our online home fire safety checker to make sure there are no hidden dangers in your home.

“The online tool asks you a series of questions to help us determine the level of risk in your home or the home of someone you care about. It only takes a few minutes to get tailored advice on how to protect yourself and your loved ones from fire.”

The cause of the fire is currently being investigated.
