“It’s the first time an actor and a choreographer have come together for a show like this. It’s a complete dance musical, there are no scenes or drama and we’ll be dancing non-stop for 90 minutes,” she says.

World of Stree will showcase different aspects of femininity and different ‘Devi Roop’. “We have been rehearsing for five to six hours a day for almost two months and everything is falling into place. It is a semi-classical performance and some parts are in Kathak. Apart from me and Ashish, 10 classical dancers are performing with us. With this show, I want to give back all the love I have received from my audience,” she says.

Amruta has been dancing for a long time and feels that it is something that “comes naturally to me”. “I am not a trained dancer, but I have a great thirst for knowledge. I have been dancing for about 20 years now and I still feel that I can improve and I am working on it,” she says, adding that there are three shows of World of Street in Mumbai on August 24 and 25, and she even plans to present it worldwide: “We are talking to people in the US, Australia and Singapore. I want to present it worldwide because I think it will resonate with everyone.”

When asked about the difference between performing on screen and on stage, the 39-year-old says: “Nothing beats the energy of a live audience. And the reaction is instant; the audience either loves it or they don’t. You bring it out in that moment and there is no greater climax for an artist.”

The actress stresses that while Hindi showbiz keeps the actor in her busy, the dancer in her is satiated by Marathi cinema. “In Hindi, I have never gotten dance roles, but in Marathi, it is the exact opposite. I have such iconic dance songs to my credit as Wajle Ki Bara, Yes, hip-hop And Chandramukhti‘s (2022) songs. People learned a lot more about me as a dancer after Chandramukhtibut I don’t want to wait for another film of this kind to reach my audience who love me for my dance, that’s why I did this show,” she concludes.
