This Bronxville dance teacher emphasizes the joy of learning

Fred Astaire Dance Studios in Bronxville opened its doors earlier this year and offers a range of classes for dancers of all experience levels. Whether you’re a couple looking to perfect their wedding dance, a local looking for a new hobby to boost your emotional and physical well-being, or an experienced dancer looking to improve your skills, this studio offers classes tailored to your needs.

One of the studio’s three dance instructors is Daniil Golyshev, a 23-year-old experienced ballroom dancer who competes at a professional level. Golyshev is from Russia, and his passion for dance began at a young age and quickly developed into a lifestyle. He has had a strong inclination toward dancing and competing since the age of four, and has spent the last two decades honing his craft and specializing in the international Latin style. (His brother, who is also a ballroom dancer, is one of the owners of Fred Astaire Dance Studios in Bronxville and moved to the States six years ago.)

Thanks to his lifelong dedication and loyalty to Latin American and ballroom dancing, he has earned the title of finalist and winner of numerous competitions in Germany, Romania, Italy, Ukraine, Belarus and Russia. Today, he travels throughout the tri-state area and abroad to pursue his passion and compete at the highest level.

When asked about his best ballroom memory, he replies: “It was becoming a finalist in my home country and in Germany. When you put so much effort into something, it’s hard to believe when it actually comes true.”

Golyshev began his career as a dance instructor at the age of 17 and has been teaching full-time since moving to the United States two years ago. He is passionate about teaching his students and helping them reach their full dance potential and achieve their individual goals.

“I always try to get involved. Every student is a work of art and dancing is a good hobby both mentally and physically,” notes Golyshev.

He compares the dance scene in the US with that in Russia and concludes that results are not always the main goal. Dancing is more about being happy and doing something that brings you joy. He motivates each of his students to enjoy the learning process and reach their full potential.

“(The studio is) a great, friendly environment where dancers can achieve their goals,” Golyshev enthuses.

In addition to his great success on the dance floor, Golyshev also earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He notes that this knowledge, coupled with his experience as a professional dancer, helps him support his students on a different level that is not so easily replicated.
