Hurricane Harbor Arlington will be equipped with spectacular innovations by 2025

A major water park in Arlington is undergoing a massive expansion: Hurricane Harbor Arlington, which bills itself as the largest water park in North Texas, is getting a huge new water play area with slides and surprise elements, set to open in 2025.

The park is also introducing new guest amenities, including a coastal-themed area, colorful slides and a multi-level interactive play structure. There will be more activities for children, as well as updated dining options, family cabanas and renovated restrooms.

Located at 1800 E. Lamar Blvd. in Arlington, Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Arlington is the wet cousin of Six Flags Over Texas, the long-running theme park in Arlington. The two properties are directly across from each other on either side of I-30.

Hurricane Harbor offers more than 40 rides and attractions like Typhoon Twister and Tsunami Surge. But in the competitive world of water parks, it’s never enough, you need more, more, more.

The extension includes:

  • Splash Island: A 5,500 square-foot area with a multi-level water play structure, more than 110 water features, seven kid-friendly water slides and a variety of water features. A Texas-sized tipping water bucket with a capacity of 1000 gallons adds even more fun and is perfect for the water lovers among you.
  • Kids’ Water Slide Area: Seven additional water slides for smaller water lovers, including a mini tornado water slide and a mini wave slide. They have names: Cowabunga, Jellyfish Twist (two slides), RipQurl, Shark Attack, Splashin’ Seal and Stingray Racer – designed to provide the perfect number of drops and twists for little ones looking for a gentle thrill.
  • Splash Pad: with 24 water games

Other amenities include the ability to rent new family cabanas and oversized umbrellas. There will also be youth-friendly furniture and the restrooms in the area will be renovated.

The expanded dining options also include the renovation of the in-house restaurant.

In a statement, Richard Douaihy, president of Six Flags Over Texas and Hurricane Harbor parks, called it a “historic expansion” that will provide a new experience that visitors can enjoy indefinitely by purchasing a season pass for both facilities.

“We are transforming the water park with exciting new attractions for the whole family, as well as improved amenities and dining options, making it the premier destination for family water park fun in North Texas,” said Douaihy.
