The impasse between the Dallas Cowboys and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb may not be as bad as some fear.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday The Pat McAfee Show “The two sides are not that far apart.” He added that there is a growing expectation that Lamb will be in the Week 1 game against the Cleveland Browns.

ESPN’s Jeff Darlington painted a different picture on Monday Stand up He said: “It really doesn’t feel like they’re at a point where they know the annual salary, where they know the length of the contract, where they know the real structure of the contract, where it becomes guaranteed money.”

Lamb then left his fans thinking for themselves when he posted a photo of a Spider-Man in a black suit on social media just hours after this report.

The three-time Pro Bowler is under contract for one more season, but his $18 million salary is a bargain in the current market, where top earners make over $30 million.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported last Saturday that the Cowboys were willing to offer Lamb “around $33 million” annually, but he insisted on more. The structure of his contract was also a sticking point.

With just a few weeks left until the start of the regular season, not only are Lamb and the Cowboys running out of time to negotiate an extension before opening week, but Schefter also explained that his continued absence could mean he won’t be fully ready when play begins.

That’s a problem Dallas would like to have, though, because it probably means Lamb is under contract and tied up long-term.
