The sixth episode of Tower of God Season 2 introduced a number of new characters and gave us insight into the circumstances that led to Jue Viole Grace, no, Twenty-Fifth-Bam, becoming a member of FUG as a Slayer candidate. Hwaryun and another member of the organization came to visit him and keep an eye on the new team he formed with Ja Wangnan and the others. Despite their friendly appearance, however, Wangnan soon learns the truth about Viole and why he is associated with FUG in the first place. He learns that the encounter could have very well resulted in everyone’s deaths.

The team also embarked on their next test, which quickly became tricky when half of the team encountered an incredibly dangerous individual responsible for the deaths of many Rankers: a man named Urek Mazino.

Viole meets with two FUG members

An uncomfortable conversation and the confirmation that Viole is Bam

Ja Wangnan meets FUG – Tower of God Season 2 Episode 6

The episode picks up where episode 5 left off, with Yihwa questioning Viole about why she met with other members of FUG without telling the team. Her suspicions leave something else simmering beneath the surface, and Ja Wangnan even makes fun of her later in the episode for getting nervous when she saw Viole secretly meeting another woman. While things get a little tense because she infiltrated a FUG meeting, Viole manages to deescalate the situation by inviting Hwaryun and a man named Ha Jinsung to the apartment, where they meet Ja Wangnan and the team.

Of course, no one can relax in the presence of members of a designated terrorist organization, but the FUG agents have brought snacks and seem friendly. At one point, Viole goes up to the roof to look at the sky as she often does, Goseng puts the sleepy Miseng to bed, and the group splits up, leaving Wangnan alone with Hwaryun. Ha Jinsung joins Viole on the roof and drops the information we were looking for, in case it hasn’t become perfectly clear by now: Jue Viole Grace is Bam.

FUG’s intentions for Viole are revealed

Bam’s friends are held hostage

When the group has disbanded, Hwaryun Ja tells Wangnan that Ha Jinsung seems quite friendly, but that they can all be happy to be alive, as everyone at FUG is unhappy with Viole’s team. She explains that Viole is a figure comparable to a god within the ranks of FUG, as he has the potential to achieve the organization’s main goal and “make people’s dreams come true.” This refers to Viole’s ability to do something that most of the tower’s residents cannot: kill King Jahad. The king made a contract with the tower’s administrators that made him immune to attacks from all of the tower’s residents.

This solidifies his rule over the tower. As explained in the first season, “Regulars” are those who are granted access to the tower and must abide by its rules, while “Irregulars” are those who enter the tower of their own free will. Irregulars are not bound by the tower’s rules, meaning Irregulars are the only ones who can kill Jahad. Hwaryun reveals that Bam is not following their orders for his own sake, but to protect his friends, who are essentially being held hostage. Should Bam fail to climb the tower or disobey orders, his friends will be killed one by one. When Wangnan learns this, his entire perception of Viole is turned upside down, as he realizes that his determination to climb the tower is not based on any personal goal or ambition, but rather a desire to protect those dear to him. Later that night, Ja Wangnan decides to kill his friend.

The next test begins and mysterious new characters appear

The team prepares to capture a rare treasure

Ja Wangnan's Team – Tower of God Season 2 Episode 6

After meeting Viole’s handlers at FUG, Ja Wangnan and the others embark on a new test with a gigantic Shinheuh (“Divine Sea Fish”) named Zygaena; a whale-like beast that is said to house an incredibly rare flower. The team must enter the Shinheuh’s body and find the flower to pass the test. The Zygaena has two respiratory organs, one on its back and the other on its stomach. The beast turns over every 30 minutes, so the team must be able to enter and retrieve the flower and determine an appropriate time to exit. They split into two groups. Ja Wangnan enters through the blowhole with Arkraptor, Miseng, and Goseng.

Once inside, the Zygaena turns around. Inside, they soon come across the flower growing on the back of a young Zygaena, which resembles a piglet and is extremely agile. They give chase and follow it deeper into the creature’s body, but eventually it slips into a tiny crawlspace, and the only one who can follow it is Miseng, but she has to do it alone. Kang Horyang, Prince, Viole, and Yihwa enter through the entrance on the Zygaena’s belly and find themselves in a very cavernous area where they are attacked by giant lizard-like animals.

Introducing Urek Mazino

A killer for ranked players

Urek Mazino – Tower of God Season 2 Episode 6

Horyang and Prince take care of the creature, but more literally rain down, accompanied by arcs of lightning. When the dust settles, Horayng and Prince find themselves in dangerous company, as a man named Urek Mazino makes no effort to hide his hostility. Bam, separated from Prince and Horyang by Zygaena’s flip, almost senses the danger and runs to the scene. Horyang and Prince. Mazino never introduced himself, but he did say that it would cause an uproar in the tower if his presence became known, and he had mistakenly identified Horyang and Prince as Rankings instead of Regulars. According to Mazino, a number of Rankings had been sent by the Administrator, and they must have sent the Regulars into a death trap disguised as a test. He tells them that he will spare them if they forget everything they saw, but when Viole hears that they plan to abandon this test attempt, he can’t help but stand firm and fight.

He tells the others to run away while he takes on Urek Mazino, whose face is finally revealed after an awkward time spent undercover, dulling the impact of the reveal and making it seem like his mysterious aura was very much a gimmick. The first half of the episode was a wrap-up of the situation from the previous episode, while the second half set up the next episode, where a fight between this so-called killer of the Rankers and Viole is hinted at. The brief appearance of a cloaked figure named Karaka earlier in the episode was another element that will become more important as the series progresses. It was interesting to see why Bam got involved with FUG, and the upcoming fight will have to be executed very well to make it feel like the build-up paid off.
