“Rude gesture” costs Type Shot at Pokémon Card Championship

I didn’t know Pokémon cards were still a big deal, but apparently they are because there’s a World Championship competition going on and one competitor learned the hard way that you have to keep your celebrations G-rated if you don’t want your Pokémon card dreams to come crashing down around you.

According to Metro.UK, this year’s edition of the Pokémon Trading Card Game World Championships will be held in Hawaii, which is a great idea because if you’re going to Hawaii, you’ll want to spend most of your time indoors playing cards.

But these are the toughest of the hardcore Pokémon card players, and it takes a long time to get ready for the big dance on the Big Island (I don’t know if that’s on the Big Island, but if it is, that would be a cool name).

One of these players is the American Ian Robb. He secured his ticket for the tournament and even survived a few games (fights? matches?).

Robb found himself in a quarterfinal match against the pride of Chile, Fernando Cifuentes.

The American emerged victorious, but fans were confused because Cifuentes only advanced to the semifinals after it was announced that Robb had been disqualified.

They then watched the film again and had their answer pretty quickly.

In order.

Was this “rude gesture”, as Metro.UK called it, the worst thing I’ve ever seen? No.

Is this a good way to celebrate winning a children’s game? That’s not the case either.

According to Comicbook.com, Robb was disqualified for unsportsmanlike conduct, which seems fair. This is a mediocre move. It’s not appropriate for a quarterfinal victory at the Pokémon Trading Card Game World Championship.

However, there is some controversy surrounding this controversy: Was this a masturbatory hand gesture or a roll of the dice?

The Pokémon powers – and their dirty minds – assumed the former was the case.

However, being the eternal optimist, I believe there is a positive side to Robb’s disqualification. I’m sure he’s pretty upset that he missed out on a title opportunity due to a moment of carelessness, but I bet the trip to Hawaii is paid for.

There’s no point in wasting it! Go outside and get some ice cream.

Also, I heard the beaches in Hawaii are pretty nice!
