The Diamondbacks have signed infielder Luis Guillorme, the team announced Tuesday afternoon. Guillorme is active and with the team in Miami ahead of Arizona’s game against the Marlins, the second of a three-game series.

Guillorme, 29, was released by the Los Angeles Angels on Aug. 18. Best known for his defense and versatility, Guillorme could cover second base in the absence of star Ketel Marte, who is on the injured list with a sprained ankle.

Guillorme, from Venezuela, was drafted in the 10th round by the New York Mets in 2013 and spent all or part of the last six years with the Mets prior to this season. He began 2024 with the Atlanta Braves before being traded to the Angels. He appeared in 50 games with the Angels and posted a .231 batting average in 104 at-bats.
