Homicide investigators were called to North Vancouver after a woman and a girl fell from a balcony and died early Tuesday morning.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in North Vancouver received calls around 4:30 a.m. reporting that two people had fallen from the balcony of an apartment complex in the 100 block of East Esplanade Avenue in the Lower Lonsdale neighbourhood.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) initially described the dead as two women, but then clarified that they were two women, an adult and a school-age child.

Photos of the complex, called “Premiere at the Pier,” show a balcony covered in blue tarps about eight stories above the 22-story residential building.
“Police believe the two knew each other and are not currently looking for any other suspects,” said Cpl. Esther Tupper of the IHIT. “There is no ongoing danger to the public and this is an isolated incident.”
IHIT is working with the RCMP, an integrated forensics team and the BC Coroners Service to investigate “to determine the circumstances that led to this tragic event.”
Anyone with information is asked to call IHIT at 1-877-551-4448 or email [email protected].
Anyone who witnessed the incident or its aftermath can contact the RCMP Victim Assistance Team at 604-969-7540 for advice and support.
