The quality of the loot you get is determined by a stat called “Loot Stage,” which improves as you progress through the game and depending on where you go. This isn’t explained particularly well in the game, but understanding how it works will help you decide how much effort you want to put into searching loot containers and the like.

The loot level is a simple number that is influenced by a number of factors and determines Types and quality of prey that you receive when you open a container. You can check your loot status on the Basic character statistics of the statistics menu.

Player level

The simplest factor: Loot Stage is scale linearly with your player level. This means that you can get better items just by surviving for a long time and playing the game normally.

Biome

The Biome you are currently in increases your loot level depending on the difficulty level.


  • The Pine forest has the lowest loot level.
  • The Desert and burnt forest are a bit more difficult than the Pine Forest and you get a loot level bonus for staying there.
  • The Snow and wasteland Biomes are the hardest and offer you the biggest bonuses.

Location
