British teenager dies on holiday after falling from sixth-floor hotel balcony in Ibiza

A teenage British tourist has died in Ibiza after falling from a hotel balcony in the early hours of the morning.

The unnamed 19-year-old girl fell from the sixth floor of the four-star Vibra District Hotel, an adults-only property 300 metres from the beach in San Antonio, Ibiza.

The incident occurred at around 3am on Tuesday before paramedics were called; however, due to the severity of her injuries, she did not survive.

The Guardia Civil, Spain’s Civil Guard, is investigating the death and said an autopsy is expected to have taken place.

“A 19-year-old British woman died at 3am on Tuesday morning when she fell from the sixth floor of her hotel in San Antonio, Ibiza,” said a Guardia Civil spokesman. The Telegraph.

“It is possible that she was under the influence of drugs or alcohol,” he added.

Police said they considered the death caused by the fall to be an accident.

A police source quoted by several media outlets added: “Everything indicates that this was a tragic accidental fall.”

The incident came just days after another British tourist died in a fall in Spain. The 28-year-old man lost his life when he fell five metres at a hotel in Palmanova, Mallorca.

The man fell over a wall in front of his partner in the four-star Reverence Mare hotel on Saturday and died.

The nameless man stumbled over the wall after a night of drinking and landed next to the hotel’s jacuzzi. The Guardia Civil is also investigating this incident.

The Independent has contacted the Spanish Guardia Civil for further information.
