  • The creators have plans for season 2, but Apple TV+ has not yet renewed the series.

After a wild ride that took its characters on an unforgettable journey, the new series Time Bandits is wrapping up its debut season. Before the series goes on hiatus, however, there are still a few more episodes to enjoy, as Apple TV+ is releasing the final two episodes this Wednesday. To whet fans’ appetites, the streamer has teamed up with Collider to share a sneak peek of the next episode, which showcases a pivotal moment in the story.

In the preview, the group of adventurers are searching for their next portal while still looking for the missing piece of their precious map. On a beach, they think for a second they’ve finally found a portal, but it turns out to be something else entirely – a massive presence in the water that is none other than Poseidon himself, ruler of the seas. Understandably, they’re all pretty excited about it, but Kevin (Kal-El Tuck) sees an opportunity for dialogue with the ancient being.

Not that it’s the best idea to negotiate with a giant Greek god, but the boy knows that if he really wants to save his parents, he must at least try. When Penelope (Lisa Kudrow) says that Poseidon cannot be reasoned with because “he has a god complex.” Surprisingly, Kevin stands firm and challenges the being. To see what happens next, we’ll have to watch the episode when it premieres tomorrow.

Season 2 of “Time Bandits” is already in the works – but there is a catch

Fans of Time Bandits know that there is certainly material for further seasons in the series, but of course that all depends on what Apple decides after the finale. In an interview with Christina Radish of Collider this week, the series’ co-creators said: Taika Waititi And Jemaine Clement revealed that they have already drawn up a plan for Season 2 in case the streamer decides to bring them back for another season, but for the next few months, they are keeping their expectations in check:

“We’re planning a second season. That depends on whether people watch it and like it and whether it’s financially viable for Apple to do another one. We’ll know that after a few months. But right now we’re writing it and yes, there are more locations and more characters and more guest stars and more costumes and all those things.”

Time Bandits is based on the 1981 film with Sean Connery (The Rock), Shelley Duval (The Shining – The Wonderful World of Madness), And John Cleese (Monty Python’s Flying Circus), and Waititi also told Collider that he never wanted the series to be a “copy” of the film because the original story was a little too dark for children and the Thor: Love and Thunder The director wanted the new adaptation to be much more family-friendly.

Apple TV+ shows the last two episodes of Time Bandits this Wednesday, August 21st. You can see our exclusive preview above.
