“Bad Monkey,” Episode 3: Watch the chemistry between Vince Vaughn and Michelle Monaghan on the phone in an exclusive clip

The new Bill Lawrence series from Apple TV+, Evil Monkeybegins with a mysteriously severed arm, so viewers can expect many more exciting twists to come.

The 10-part series is based on Carl Hiaasen’s best-selling novel and featured a number of jaw-dropping revelations during its August 14 premiere – several of them relating to Michelle Monaghan’s character Bonnie.

After viewers learned that Bonnie and Vince Vaughn’s Andrew Yancy used to be a couple, Evil Monkey At the end of episode 2 there was a big twist: Bonnie is wanted again in Oklahoma for sexual assault!

As it turns out, Bonnie’s real name is Clover Chase. She’s a former English teacher who slept with one of her students, evaded bail, and was on the run for nine years. And she probably would have continued to successfully hide out in the Keys if Johnna Russell (Ashley Nicole Black) of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation hadn’t spotted her in a YouTube video of Yancy’s golf cart incident.

At the end of Episode 2, Russell gives Yancy her card and tells him to call her if he has any information about Bonnie/Clover’s whereabouts. In Decider’s exclusive Evil Monkey In the clip from Episode 3, you get our first glimpse of these locations, as we see Bonnie for the first time since learning her true identity.

In the 50-second teaser video above, the palpable chemistry between Monaghan and Vaughn is on full display as their characters reconnect over the phone for the first time since Bonnie left town. The clip shows her poolside at a Playa Bella resort in a green bikini, sunglasses and an extremely fashionable hat. As she coyly tells Yancy that she answers to both “Bonnie” and “Clover,” a Playa Bella employee named Ricky brings her a tropical drink to her seat and she graciously thanks him, to which Yancy curiously asks, “Ricky? There’s a Ricky? Can you get Ricky in?”

“Even if I did, Andrew, he would never tell. Ricky is a good person,” Bonnie replies and continues another round of brilliant Evil Monkey Banter.

When Yancy tells Bonnie that an officer from the great state of Oklahoma is looking for her, Bonnie says, “I know. That’s why I’m hesitant to give up my whereabouts.” While a normal person would continue to ask Bonnie about her whereabouts, Yancy simply asks, “Who says ‘that’s why’?” and makes sure she’s OK. In her most desperate voice, Bonnie tells Yancy that she’s “getting by” while Ricky comically reappears to spray her with sunscreen. (He really is a good person!)

Knowing she can handle herself just fine, Yancy finally gets to the point: “I never imagined dating a sex offender. One of your students? Seriously?” When a shocked Rosa (Natalie Martinez) overhears Yancy’s half of the phone call, Bonnie tells him not to portray her student Cody as a victim because “he was three months shy of his 18th birthday.” BONNIE!

Yancy notices Rosa’s concern and quickly ends the conversation by saying, “Either way, it’s wrong. Either way, you shouldn’t have put yourself or a minor in this situation. I have to go!”

Curious to see what happens next? Then tune in to Evil Monkey Episode 3, “Nobody Said He Was Alvin Einstein,” on Wednesday, August 21, to see what the future holds for Bonnie and Yancy.

Until then, the official synopsis for episode 3 on Apple TV+ reads: “Yancy and Rosa continue to search for more information about Nick. Caitlin confronts Eve, leading to a shocking revelation.”
