The following was submitted by Kim McGowen, annual giving chair for the Stanly Health Foundation, host of “Dancing With the Stars” in Stanly County.

Anticipation continues to build for the 12th annual Dancing with the Stars in support of Butterfly House Children’s Advocacy Center with the announcement of another dynamic dance team: Kate White and Cade Whitley.
White, 23, is a proud Stanly County native and currently lives in Wilmington, where she is actively pursuing a career as an actress.
As a former Miss Stanly County, Miss Thomasville and current Miss Charlotte Mecklenburg, Kate is nothing new to the spotlight.
She channels her passion for the arts through her organization, Camp Create! in Albemarle, which focuses on creating artistic opportunities for the youth of Stanly County.
Kate is excited to bring her fundraising expertise, honed through her work in arts funding, to support the important services provided by Butterfly House.
Interestingly, although Kate grew up in musical theater, she was never a dancer.
Whitley is also from Stanly County and currently lives in Oakboro.
Cade will graduate from Wingate University in 2023 with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Psychology. He is employed by Atrium Health Security and is looking to join ALE in the near future.
Cade is known for his talent as a local entertainer and performs throughout the state. His most recent highlight was competing in the Miss North Carolina Pageant Week. He is very involved in his community, as evidenced by his four years of volunteering as a football and wrestling coach at South Stanly High School and currently at Albemarle High School.
In his free time, Cade enjoys spending time with friends and family at the lake.
A fun fact about Cade is that he works as a sports coach at local high schools.
Kate and Cade’s participation in Dancing with the Stars underscores their commitment to giving back to their community and supporting the important work of Butterfly House.
This event will take place on September 7th at 7 p.m. at the Stanly County Agri-Civic Center. Under the theme “Magic of Motown,” the night promises to be an enchanting evening of soulful music and captivating dance performances.
With eleven dance teams working hard on their routines and participating in various fundraising events, the evening promises to be a spectacular celebration of talent and community spirit.
Tickets are on sale now and the community is encouraged to come out and support Kate, Cade and all participants. Proceeds from the event will benefit Butterfly House Children’s Advocacy Center, which provides critical services to children and families in need.
