Shiloh, daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, receives legal permission to remove her father’s last name

Shiloh, the daughter of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, has received legal permission to drop her father’s last name.

The 18-year-old had already applied to change her legal name from Shiloh Jolie-Pitt to Shiloh Jolie on her birthday in May and had the decision Los Angeles Times as part of the legal process.

Under California law, a judge cannot grant a name change petition until one month after the legal documents are published in a newspaper. Shiloh’s petition was approved on Monday (August 19), according to official court documents obtained TMZ.

Shiloh’s younger sister Vivienne also appears to have dropped Pitt from her name, according to the program for her Broadway play. The Outsiders.

The 16-year-old, who is part of the production team of the play alongside her mother Angelina, is named as Vivienne Jolie in the official program.

In 2023, the former couple’s 19-year-old daughter, Zahara, also appeared to no longer use her father’s surname, as she was introduced to her university’s sorority as Zahara Marley Jolie.

However, Shiloh is believed to be the first of her children to go through the necessary legal process to officially change her name.

Jolie, 49, and Pitt, 60, began dating in 2004 after meeting on the set of Mr and Mrs Smith and married in 2014. They have six children together: Zahara, Shiloh, 20-year-old Pax, 22-year-old Maddox and twins Vivienne and Knox, 16.

The couple announced their separation in 2016 and the split was bitter. Jolie is said to have filed for divorce from the Fight Club Actor after an incident on a private flight from France to Los Angeles in September 2016.

Court documents received from The New York Times claimed that Pitt “choked one of the children and punched another in the face” and “grabbed Jolie by the head and shook her.” It was also alleged that he “poured beer on Jolie” and “poured beer and red wine on the children.”

Pitt vehemently denied the allegations at the time and was never charged after an investigation into the allegations.

In 2021, the actors became embroiled in another legal battle when Pitt sued Jolie for “secretly” selling her shares in the French winery Chateau Miraval, which they had purchased together during their relationship.

Jolie’s legal team recently issued a statement urging Pitt to end the dispute so the family could “heal.” A Los Angeles judge previously ruled that Jolie must provide eight years of non-disclosure agreements as part of the ongoing legal battle.
