TISP faction leader Jordanow describes the meeting of the parliamentary presidium as strange and pointless

“The meeting of the Presidium of Parliament was strange and completely pointless, since it could not decide anything,” said the leader of the There Is Such a People (TISP) party, Toshko Yordanov, to journalists in Parliament on Tuesday after the meeting of the Presidium.

“Vazrazhdane did not show up. Continue the change – Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) came, saw (Movement for Rights and Freedoms faction leader) Delyan Peevski and left again. The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) said it believes this parliament is exhausted and no changes should be made. You know what GERB said – nothing new. The MRF wants elections,” Yordanov said. He reiterated the TISP’s position that the ill-conceived constitutional amendments led to the current situation. According to him, the procedures for electing the two vice-presidents of the Bulgarian National Audit Office (BNAO), the ombudsman, the deputy ombudsman and a deputy central bank governor (these are part of the pool of potential candidates for the post of interim prime minister from which the president can choose) should be accelerated as soon as possible.

Asked whether acting interim Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev was no longer part of the candidate pool because he could not return to his post as BNAO president due to his time as interim foreign minister, Yordanov again criticized the constitutional changes. “If he is removed (from the candidate pool), so be it. They should have thought about it earlier. There is no problem in electing a new BNAO president,” he said.
