What happened in My Hero Academia Season 7 Episode 13?

Deku’s fight with Shigaraki heats up

Deku uses Gearshift to deliver powerful blows to Shigaraki.

Episode 13 picked up where Episode 12 ended, and Deku had just made a dramatic arrival on the battlefield. Deku was shaken at the sight of so many heroes, including Bakugo, on the ground and began to lose control of his power until Mirio stepped in to reassure him that everyone was still alive. Deku was able to regain his focus and began to attack Shigaraki, taking advantage of the final Quirk in One for All: Gearshift. Gearshift has become so powerful over the generations of power accumulation that it is now very difficult to use, allowing for physics-breaking power at the cost of a major setback afterward.

Gearshift has turned the tide of the fight, allowing Deku to deliver some incredibly powerful blows with relative ease. He has also used almost every Quirk in his arsenal at once, proving how much he has improved at processing Quirks in parallel. Although Deku has dealt a lot of damage to Shigaraki, his endless growth has allowed him to quickly recover from those injuries, and if the second user’s warning is to be believed, Deku will soon feel the consequences of using Gearshift. The fight has reached a critical turning point, and everything could depend on how the next few minutes go.

My Hero Academia Season 7 Episode 14 focuses on the Mutant Rebellion

The Heteromorphs Strike Back

Spinner uses the Body Bulk Quirk he got from All for One.

Episode #14 of Season 7 of My Hero Academia is titled “Together with Shoji,” and according to the preview, will focus on Shoji and Koda facing off against the masses of Heteromorphs like themselves gathered under the command of Spinner. Spinner doesn’t look quite his usual self, suggesting he may have received additional powers from All for One before the final battle. This is the battlefield surrounding the hospital where Kurogiri is being held, meaning the winner will gain control of Kurogiri’s warp powers – something that could easily change the course of the battle.

This fight is particularly difficult because the Heteromorphs have many valid reasons to be upset about the status quo, even if they are being exploited by the villains. They are mostly normal civilians, not villains, so the heroes must tread very carefully to avoid this situation turning into a bloodbath. This is where it takes a true hero to turn the tide, not by fighting, but by gathering his strength and speaking to these people on a personal level. Can Shoji and Koda rise to the occasion and save their fellow Heteromorphs before it’s too late?

While it may not be as exciting as Deku vs. Shigaraki, the hospital battlefield is an incredibly important location strategically, so it makes sense to My Hero Academia would shift its focus to a site that fans haven’t seen much of, just as the action there is heating up.
